Yesterday I went to the comic book store and bought Batman (2011) #19, Threshold (2013) #4, Star Wars (2013) #4 and Supergirl (2011) #9, #10, #11, #13, and #19 (for Paula) and Superior Spider-Man (2012) #8. I also ordered Star Wars (2013) #1, which should be in its 4th printing next week. I did not receive Star Trek Ongoing (2010) #20, which came out yesterday, neither did I receive Ame Comi Girls (2013) #2 (also Paula's) nor Star Wars: Dark Times (2013) Fire Carrier #3. He is supposed to look into this. Next week I should be getting Star Wars: Legacy (2013) Prisoner of the Floating World #2.

BOOM Sunday

Today we had our BOOM Sunday service. BOOM stands for Bring One Or More. We invited Blake, but he was already attending his church service. We had a good Sunday School lesson about New Testament legalism, which was the first (of many) errors to arise during the apostolic age. Next week we'll discuss the reason God gave Moses the law and its true intent. Last Thursday, Paula and I came home to a hot (!) house! I got online and checked the transformer and the fuses and checked all my connections to no avail. I finally found a website called justanswers.com and came across an HVAC expert who chatted me through several tests until we determined that the thermostat had expired. One test was to wire the Red, Green and Yellow wires together, which kicked on the a/c. One not-quite-so-quickish trip to Walmart and I was installing my new thermostat. It only took five minutes to install, but is taking longer to learn how to use it.

Village Creek State Park

We went to Village Creek State Park today and what do you think we saw when we first stepped onto the Village Slough trail? A GIANT ANACONDA! I thought for sure our day would be ruined, but we stuck it out and completed the entire 1.2-mile loop. We plan on going back again real soon.

Thanksgiving 2010

Well, another Thanksgiving has come and gone. I ate too much and suffered for it all night long. I am thankful for a loving and doting wife, a loving and grateful family, a church that still preaches the Word and a job in these horrible days of BO!

We are up at 2:30 because we have to be at that job at 4:00 to try to control the maddening crowd as they queue up to fight over cheaper junk. I'm just kidding. It's the same junk: they're just not having to pay as much for it.

Almost a Week With Morgan & Ian

Morgan & Ian stayed with us last Monday through Friday. We has a good time and they weren't completely bored while we had to work.

Morgan & Ian came over tonight and we played Scattergories and Toss-Up! Ian just walked back and forth watching us play, although he did have to go to bed while we were still playing Scattergories. I'd like for us to work on the puzzle Paula wants to finish before Christmas.

Vacation Bible School

We finished up our VBS this year with a carnival, which included pieing the pastor and a couple others and a dunking booth. We strayed from the traditional formula and held VBS during Sunday School and the morning service. We had two children make professions of faith, which makes it all worth it.

The kids' fund-raising project this year was raising money for B.E.A.M.S. to send whole, hard-back Bibles to missionaries in Haiti to give to their converts.
